Chat w WebPage ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome extension.

2. Data Collection

2.1 What We DON'T Collect

We want to be clear about what we don't do:

• No tracking or analytics: We do not use any analytics services, tracking pixels, or telemetry.
• No user accounts: We don't require registration or collect any personal information.
• No conversation data: We never see, store, or transmit your conversations with AI models.
• No browsing history: We don't track which websites you visit or analyze.
• No server communication: The extension doesn't communicate with our servers because we don't have any.

2.2 What Data Stays on Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• API Keys: Encrypted API keys for AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure, etc.)
• Configuration: Your model settings, assistant configurations, and preferences
• Conversation History: Chat history stored locally for your convenience (you can clear it anytime)
• Custom Assistants: Your custom assistant prompts and templates

All this data is stored using chrome.storage.local and never leaves your device.

3. API Key Security

3.1 Encryption

Your API keys are encrypted before being stored in Chrome's local storage. We use industry-standard encryption methods to protect your credentials.

3.2 Direct Communication

When you chat with AI models, the communication happens directly between your browser and the AI provider's API (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). Your API key is used only to authenticate these requests. We never intercept, store, or have access to this communication.

4. Third-Party Services

Chat w WebPage acts as a client interface for third-party AI services. When you use the extension, you're subject to the privacy policies of the AI providers you choose:

5. Permissions Explanation

Our extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage: To save your settings and API keys locally on your device
• activeTab: To extract content from the webpage you're currently viewing
• sidePanel: To display the chat interface in Chrome's side panel
• tabs: To access webpage information for content extraction
• scripting: To inject content extraction scripts into webpages
• <all_urls>: To enable API calls to your chosen AI providers

6. Data Retention

All data stored by the extension remains on your device until you:

• Manually clear conversation history
• Delete API configurations
• Uninstall the extension
• Clear Chrome's extension data

7. Children's Privacy

Our extension is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
